Meet the Family

The Donut Cart is run by the owner, Amber, and her two children, Eleanor and Sunil. Together, the three worker bees make your favorite treats! At any given time you can see them in the cart dancing, laughing, and pausing for group hugs. We love being a family-owned and run business, and we'd love to welcome you to our family by sharing what we love - DONUTS!

Our Story

It all started when Amber was working full time, going to school full time, raising children by herself, and just downright stressed! Her final college project was to create and present a business plan.

Amber was trying to think of something fun that wouldn't add any more stress to her overworked brain. She started remembering Christmas as a child. Her father would start up this crazy, old, industrial donut machine. Friends would come over to make donuts, then everyone would go around town caroling and handing out boxes of donuts.

 

This memory was so happy and warm that Amber decided to use that old donut machine in her business concept.

 

Then, Amber's daughter came home with the dreaded fundraising pamphlet, and everything started coming together in Amber's mind. A mobile donut truck would not only be fun, but it could also be a fundraiser!

 

Once Amber finished college (and got an A on the final project), The Donut Cart idea was put on the back burner until COVID quarantined the family and reminded Amber how much she loved being with her children. She decided to see if a mobile donut truck would even be a possibility. With a lot of hard work, the cart became a reality in the summer of 2022. The best part is, Amber and her children run it together. Now, Kalamazoo has a fun new way to host a party or raise money for a special cause.
